The Increasing Popularity of Cosmetic Surgery in West Palm Beach

The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery surveyed individuals of different ethnic groups and found over 50% of respondents said they think the popularity of cosmetic surgery has grown among members of their racial or ethnic group in the last five years.

The survey found cosmetic surgery most popular among Asian Americans, followed by Hispanic Americans and African Americans. Approximately 25% of people surveyed said they knew someone of the same racial or ethnic background who has gotten cosmetic or plastic surgery.

When it comes to cosmetic surgery procedures, the most common procedures reported among Asian Americans is a facelift. The most popular procedure for Hispanic Americans is a tummy tuck, and liposuction is the top procedure for African Americans. For nonsurgical procedures, the survey found the most common were fat injections, dermabrasion and Botox among Asian Americans. Hispanic Americans and African Americans reported the top procedures were laser hair removal, Botox and chemical peels.

Using cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures to improve one’s looks and confidence is not limited to any one race or ethnicity – but is common across the board.
