Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty
At Palm Beach Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery, we offer non-surgical rhinoplasty for patients who want to improve the appearance of their nose without traditional surgery.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty in West Palm Beach, Florida
Your nose is a standout feature on your face that can dramatically impact the way you look and feel. In the past, the only way to change its shape was through traditional rhinoplasty surgery—once considered the gold standard in plastic surgery—which posed risks and required an extensive recovery time. Today, there’s a revolutionary solution: Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty.
Also known as the non-surgical nose job, “liquid nose job” or “liquid rhinoplasty,” this procedure addresses bumps, drooping tips, and crooked shapes without any of the drawbacks of traditional surgical rhinoplasty.
A nonsurgical nose job could be a great option for those who want to change their nasal appearance without having to spend a significant amount of time recovering after surgery. While a non-surgical nose job cannot make the nose smaller, it can create a better balance between the bridge and the tip of the nose.
How Can Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Improve The Appearance of My Nose?
Unlike surgical rhinoplasty which restructures, alters, or enhances the size and shape of the nose, a non-surgical nose job uses dermal fillers with hyaluronic acid to achieve similar results. Non-surgical rhinoplasty can:
- Fill depressions
- Smooth out sharp angles
- Change the angle of the tip of the nose
- Give the nose a straighter appearance
- Restore symmetry to nose shape
How Does A Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Work?
Having realistic expectations is vital. Before undergoing a non-surgical rhinoplasty, you will have a consultation with our patient counselor to discuss your concerns and goals—and the best way to achieve them—with this cosmetic procedure.
A liquid nose job requires artistic talent and medical expertise to create a new shape for the nose that balances the rest of the face. As a leader in the cosmetic and reconstructive surgery profession, Palm Beach Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery combines artistry with medical knowledge for a beautiful and natural look for our patients for over three decades.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty uses dermal fillers to alter the nose shape and hide flaws. We can use this dermal filler technique to help a crooked or humped nasal bridge or add height to a flat nose. Dermal filler injections can even reshape the tip of the nose or hide a mild nose deformity. During this outpatient procedure, we first place a topical anesthetic on the targeted areas to ensure minimal pain. We then inject a dermal filler into different parts of the nose, such as depressions or on the tip, to enhance its shape. Next, we distribute the filler to ensure symmetry, smooth sharp angles, straighten its shape, and create a more flattering overall appearance.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?
From an aesthetic standpoint, the ideal candidate for liquid rhinoplasty has small nasal bumps and slightly droopy tips, enabling us to effectively correct asymmetries along the nose with dermal filler injections.
The success of nonsurgical rhinoplasty depends greatly on each patient’s anatomy, facial features, and the extent of nasal tip asymmetry and corrections required in other areas. Additionally, the best patient for this same-day procedure follows post-procedure instructions and recognizes if they have a serious complication, though most patients experience minimal recovery time with liquid rhinoplasty.
Who Is Not a Good Candidate for Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?
Patients seeking a drastic result, such as fixing a severely crooked or broken nose, or those who want to correct breathing issues will not benefit from a non-surgical nose job. Only traditional rhinoplasty surgery can effectively resolve these issues.
Does A Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Have Side Effects?
Common side effects of a nonsurgical rhinoplasty are usually minor and may include redness, swelling, bruising, or tenderness. For optimal results, we advise patients to refrain from wearing heavy eyeglasses or sunglasses for approximately two weeks following the procedure to prevent any potential disruption to the gel integrated in the nose skin.
Most patients typically resume their daily routines immediately after treatment; however, we recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, high temperatures, and direct sunlight for a few days, as these activities can compromise the effectiveness of the treatment.
Will I Have Pain with a Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?
Although the tip of the nose is one of the most sensitive areas, most patients report that they don’t feel any pain following a non-surgical rhinoplasty. In contrast, injections in other facial sites, like the cheeks, have caused significantly more discomfort in some cases. However, our use of a topical anesthetic minimizes pain.
Does Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Have a Quick Recovery or Possible Complications?
As plastic surgeons can attest, the recovery time from non-surgical rhinoplasty is minimal compared to surgical rhinoplasty, since it does not involve incisions or anesthesia. A non-surgical nose job offers many benefits, including:
- Shorter Procedure: A nonsurgical rhinoplasty usually takes between 15 to 30 minutes.
- Immediate Results: With nonsurgical rhinoplasty you can see the results immediately after the procedure.
- Temporary Side Effects: After the procedure, patients commonly experience some temporary side effects that may include mild swelling, redness, bruising, or tenderness around the injection sites. However, they usually subside within a few days.
- Ability to Resume Normal Activities: Most individuals can resume their normal activities immediately after a non-surgical rhinoplasty. Unlike surgical rhinoplasty, there is typically no downtime or need for a prolonged recovery period. You can go back to work or engage in regular daily activities right away, although we advise our patients to avoid strenuous exercise, exposure to excessive heat or cold, and facial massages for the first 24-48 hours following the procedure.
How Long Will My Results from a Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Last?
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a temporary solution for reshaping and altering the appearance of the nose. The longevity of results can vary from patient to patient and by the type of filler. At Palm Beach Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery, we use hyaluronic acid-based fillers, such as Restylane or Juvéderm, for non-surgical rhinoplasty, which usually last anywhere from 6 to 12 months before the body gradually metabolizes them.
However, various factors can influence the exact duration of results, including individual metabolism, lifestyle choices, and the specific product used. Some patients may require maintenance treatments to sustain the desired outcome. After your nonsurgical nose job, Dr. Barr will advise you when to schedule follow-up appointments and discuss the best approach to maintaining your desired appearance.
Non-Surgical vs. Surgical Rhinoplasty
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a less invasive alternative to surgical rhinoplasty, involving the use of injectable fillers—typically hyaluronic acid—to reshape and alter the appearance of the nose. It is a temporary solution that can provide subtle changes to the nose’s shape and contour; however, because the results are not permanent, liquid rhinoplasty may require touch-up treatments over time.
Pros of Liquid Rhinoplasty
- Does not require anesthesia
- Minimal downtime and discomfort
- Improves the nose’s shape
- Camouflages bumps and adds volume
- Takes little time to perform and offers instantaneous results
- Can be maintained with regular appointments
Surgical rhinoplasty is a more extensive procedure that involves making incisions to access and reshape the underlying structures of the nose. It allows for more significant changes to the nose’s size, shape, and overall appearance. Surgical rhinoplasty is a permanent solution and can address both cosmetic concerns and functional issues such as breathing difficulties.
Surgical Rhinoplasty
- Requires anesthesia
- Requires at least one week of downtime, with side effects like swelling, bruising, and tenderness
- Repairs medical conditions like a deviated septum, or other functional issues
- Manipulates the skin, bone, and cartilage to reshape and resize the nose
- Offers the option to combine procedures for complete facial balance
Can I Combine a Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty with Other Cosmetic Injections?
Patients who undergo a non-surgical rhinoplasty often consider other facial injectables to address different areas of concern. For example:
- Dermal fillers: In addition to enhancing the shape and contour of the nose, dermal fillers can add volume to the cheeks, smooth out lines and wrinkles, and enhance the lips. We can safely inject hyaluronic acid-based products like Restylane® and JUVÉDERM® in multiple areas of the face.
- Neuromodulators: BOTOX® or Dysport® injections can help reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles, such as forehead lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines between the eyebrows. We can use each alongside non-surgical rhinoplasty to achieve overall facial harmony and rejuvenation.
The combination of procedures will ultimately depend on your specific needs and desires, as well as the expertise and guidance of your plastic surgeon. During a consultation, our patient counselor will evaluate your individual case, discuss your aesthetic goals, and recommend a customized treatment plan to achieve your desired results.
