As an affordable and safe non-surgical solution to help restore a youthful appearance on aging skin, Intense Pulsed Light procedures, also known as Laser Photo Rejuvenation, is an ideal option to consider.

Using non-ablative, multi frequency laser, IPL photo-rejuvenation works by channging the skin’s molecular structure below the surface to combat aging skin, providing a tightening effect and a more youthful appearance.

IPL treatments are great for a number of problem areas. It helps remove sunspots on the face, neck, hands, chest and more. The appearance of legs can be improved as well, because IPL treatments reduce spider veins as well.

Those who have visible facial veins can reduce facial veins with IPL treatments. will notice results and reduction in the vein visibility the same day as treatment. The IPL laser shuts down the veins, and they will slowly fade away.

These treatments also help reduce active acne breakouts as well. Freckles and sunspots will darken after treatment, then over the course of two weeks’ time, the spots will darken then flake off.

Patients with red cheeks or rosacea will see immediate results, as the skin returns to a more even tone. IPL helps reduce skin redness, but the entire series of treatments must be completed in order to keep rosacea from returning.

Is IPL Painful?

The majority of patients who have had IPL laser treatments will describe the sensation as a rubber band snapping against the skin. If you prefer to have numbing cream or other numbing agents prior to treatment, let our office know no less than 24 hours prior to your treatment appointment.

Keep in mind plenty of patients complete the IPL procedures with no use of topical numbing or pain medication, but your comfort is the most important factor when choosing to have any procedure.

Recovery time is nearly immediate, as this is a non-ablative procedure. Many patients schedule IPL treatments over a lunch break. There may be some redness and swelling for up to two days post-treatment, and spots will darken before they disappear, and may take up to three weeks to disappear.

For optimal results, patients are recommended a minimum of three treatments, and sometimes up to five are necessary. For a personalized program of treatments, discussing your desired results in a consultation will help decide how many treatments are necessary.

Side effects of IPL vary based on how aggressive the treatment is. Some patients experience minimal swelling and scabbing, small amounts of blistering, and mild discomfort. These side effects are minimal and will fade over time.
