Doctors say they are seeing an increase in women asking to have their breast implants removed. This comes one month after the Food and Drug Administration issued a warning about a rare and deadly cancer linked to implants.

Cindy Tyler chokes back tears, thinking about how drastically her life has changed after getting her breast implants removed five days ago. For years, Tyler suffered from joint pain, night sweats, rashes, fatigue, even memory loss.

“For the life of me, I could not remember when my own son was born. That was so frightening,” says Tyler.

She got the implants in 2004. After about a year, she noticed they started to harden. A few years later, she started experiencing the other symptoms.

“At first, I felt crazy because I didn’t know what it was. I thought it was a hormonal thing like most women do. I got my thyroid checked, and all my tests came back normal,” says Tyler.

She started searching online and found other women were feeling the same things. That is when she went to Dr. Fredric Barr at Palm Beach Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery.

“The implant itself had ruptured a lot inside. Thankfully, it was all contained in the scar tissue capsule. Then we take it all out and wash out the area,” says Dr. Fredric Barr.

The FDA has even linked breast implants to a rare and deadly cancer. Thankfully, it never got to that point for Tyler.
